Types of Emergency Roof Repairs
The possibilities for needing to perform emergency roof repairs on your property can be wide and varied, but the chances are high indeed that if you are facing an unexpected emergency with your roof, it might fall into one of a few categories. If you need any of these three types of emergency roof repair services, you are already in the right place. The expert roofers can make sure your property is kept protected from any leakages, sudden drought, or any stray debris that might have been kicked up against your roof. Each and every one of these jobs is a perfect match for roofing services, with every essential aspect of the preparation and fix being our area of expertise.
Leaky Roofs: More roofing emergency repairs are performed to stop and prevent leaks than anything else. Inappropriate construction, bad materials, and loose debris can all lead to sudden leaks in your roof. Storm Damage: The weather isn’t exactly great for our roofs, and from whatever nature might throw at us today. Roofing emergencies can also include important yet unexpected consequences from storm damage. Missing Shingles: Your property is always in need of emergency roof repairs whenever loose shingles, tiles, or roughcast can be seen clearly missing. Each of the categories above can require their own specialist work and skills to perform efficiently. With professional roofing services on the scene, you will have exactly that before the rain can do any more damage.
Leak Repairs
Is your home in need of an emergency roof repair? Under no circumstances should even simple roof repairs be unattended, and you should call in the team to resolve them as soon as possible. We are based in Newcastle upon Tyne and carry out emergency repairs throughout the North East. If you require leak repairs, storm damage repairs, or slate and tile replacements, then we are here to help. Our team offers a reliable roof repair service with prices that are covered by most insurance policies, saving you the hassle and headaches of dealing with an insurance company yourself. Best of all, our prices are competitive, meaning you won't have to break the bank to have your urgent issues resolved.
Leak repairs are the most common emergency roof repairs, typically occurring after a heavy storm or as a result of natural wear and tear. There are many signs that your roof is leaking, including black staining on your ceilings, peeling wallpaper or paint, structural decay, and the appearance of mildew or mould. If you notice any of these signs, call in our team as soon as possible. Our number one aim is to resolve your leak problems as quickly as possible in order to prevent further damage to your property. To diagnose and fix the source of your leak, our first port of call will be your loft space. From here, we can assess whether the source of the leak is an issue with your roof covering or if it is being caused by condensation or ventilation issues. Depending on the problem, we will then carry out repairs using traditional slate roofing techniques, including replacing any broken or missing slates or tiles. We can also use newer technologies when necessary. Unfortunately, leak repairs rarely prove to be a DIY job. When leaks occur, they can quickly start to cause damage to the interior of your home. As a result, you need to act as quickly as possible. We will provide you with a responsive service at competitive rates. We will be glad to look at what needs doing at your property in order to get the problem sorted.
Storm Damage Repairs
Roofing Repairs to Address Severe Weather
When we talk about environmental hazards that can cause property damage, we usually speak about storm-caused issues. Extreme winds can cause a number of different forms of damage; obviously, falling debris from any structure is the most common. Roofing probably offers the most possible damage points on any structure. Old or ill-maintained roofs may be susceptible to wind or rain damage, but most of the time, what causes problems are elements that are flung into your roofing during storms. They cause immense problems, even while (and sometimes because) they are not there. When these objects fly into your roof's surface at high speeds, they wreak havoc on the roof's shingles and flashing. The resultant damage can open your roof to secondary damages. Flying furniture, tools, and personal objects are always a possibility during severe weather. All of these possibilities pose a threat to the established structural integrity of the average roof.
The Need for Immediate Repairs
In Newcastle upon Tyne, storm winds wreath rooftops in particular damage zones. Property owners can put a few best strategies in place to pick up after this storm has passed. First, owners can avail themselves of the small panel of local roof repair specialists in Newcastle who have learned to deal with the spontaneity and general madness of the emergency storm scenario. The emergency roofing repairs include a 24-hour rapid assessment, where the experts will be straight out to your home. They don't employ contractors and ensure that all staff are directly experienced in all their types of work. They understand that in an emergency, they need to respond immediately and get to the root of the problem. They are experienced in dealing with many different building structures, roof types, and roofing materials. They will quickly assess your roofing needs and do their best to repair immediately if your roof is at risk of further damage following this assessment.
Importance of Timely Emergency Repairs
Over time, a damaged roof can worsen from small issues to serious damage. What may start as a loose tile could soon turn into a hole in the roof. Subsequent leaks end up causing lasting damage to the inside of a home. What could have been fixed by replacing a handful of tiles would require you to fix a hole in your ceiling. As difficult as it is to see the value of spending money for damage you can’t see, repairing your roof is a smart decision for maintaining the value of your home. Properly maintaining your roof now means you won’t receive less than it’s worth when selling. That’s less money in the long run. If nothing else, promptly taking care of those busted or leaky gutters will also have a positive impact on the value of your property and ensure its structural safety. By efficiently cleaning gutters, you can remove leaves, soil, and other debris that contribute to the blockage of your gutters. Delaying roof repairs has a significant impact on lowering the property value. Emergency repairs needed? Don’t wait till it’s too late – call now. Timely emergency repairs could end up saving you a considerable amount of cash, because the sooner they’re made, the less damage they’ll cause to your roof. This consequently means it’s less money you need to spend now to fix the problem, and then to fix any secondary damage caused later. What could cost you an easy repair now might become a total replacement if the problem isn’t addressed. Some minor issues may not seem worth spending considerable time and money on fixing, but we’re more than capable of providing small roof repairs. It’s easy to see how small roof repairs can improve your property, no matter the magnitude. Protect your property and call for immediate assistance. Keep cool, and get in touch today.
Steps to Take in Case of Emergency
sCall CJB Roofing and Repairs: A Roofing Company You Can Trust in an Emergency
In Need of Emergency Repairs? What Do You Do? Step 1: Assess the situation. Can you see where the damage is? Is there anything you can do to mitigate the damage? Call us to help you quickly assess the damage! Step 2: Call us. We will prioritize your job as urgent and get there as soon as we can. Emergencies are always tough for everyone to manage - we will be there for you the whole way during your emergency. Step 3: Tarping or mitigation can be a short-term solution. If you can see where it is leaking, place a bucket under the leak. This will help to stop water or further damage. Use of a tarp can also help to prevent damage.
Safety first! If there is a risk of electrical hazards, do not enter the area. Above all things, make sure you stay out of harm's way. The following tips can help to do some quick, short-term fixes, but understand these are only for very short-term situations and can do more damage. Make your first priority contacting professional roof repairs with the knowledge and experience to minimise the damage. Also, note that using industry-standard tradespeople to make the emergency repairs will make it a lot easier for us to assess your emergency when we get there, as the chances are low of industry-standard trades work being too overpriced to do all over again. Plus, using us for all your work will give a loyal returning customer a discount.
Assess the Damage
Take a look at your roof from the ground, at a distance, and if safe, from an upper floor window. Unless you are convinced there is no immediate danger, call a professional roofing contractor for advice and assistance. Don’t forget your personal safety is the most important. Unfortunately, your insurer may take the same view, so call them as soon as possible. Further time saving may be made by scanning the phone book for local roofers in your area. Start from the top, the roof, and ensure you can see the whole roof plane. If you have a tall step ladder, you may want to climb partway up it to take a closer look. It is not recommended to climb any higher. If necessary, use binoculars to scan for damaged, missing, or lifting shingles, and to inspect the layer below for damage.
Look for signs of water damage such as water stains on the roof decking, a signal that water is leaking into your attic. Look in the attic for any water leaks. Take photographs of the damage from the top of the house if you can do so safely. The roofer will advise what they can’t see, so it is worth walking around your property and capturing images from the ground level also. Ideally, you want to have two sets of photos: one that gives an overview of the damage showing the entire roof, and another set that shows damage from a closer-up perspective. Ensure you have a contact name when it comes to explaining the condition of your roof. Find out what to expect before contacting a roofing service.

It may be that you have not yet contacted a representative from our company, and so, with that in mind, we will arrange for a member of our team to visit your property at the earliest opportunity. It will be particularly helpful if you can provide our team with comprehensive details of the problems that you have encountered so that we can put a plan together much quicker than some other companies out there.
Many of our staff are from the local area, and there are family generations who have used our company in the past. Temporary Measures
The time it may take to find and fix a leak means there is likely to be some damage caused by the water before it is all stopped. There are a number of measures that can help protect the home and your valuable possessions from more damage. Do keep in mind that these measures are only temporary and only last for a short while:
- For roofs: Use tarpaulin or similar to cover over the offending hole, using weights to hold it down. The idea is to stop more water getting in rather than collecting.
- For leaks and drips: Use buckets or other containers to collect the water without letting it seep into other areas of the building or be collected by any electrical appliance.
- Turn off the main stopcock, usually in the kitchen, to stop the water flow. Open all the cold taps but close the hot taps, where possible. This will drain all the water out of the system.
- For a leaking toilet: Crowbar off or take off the paneling and let the water drain into the bath or outside. This can be particularly important in a house, as water damage might not necessarily be traced straight away.
Act quickly to stop water getting any further and causing any more damage. Whether the weather has been kind or harsh to your home, it can not only fix the problems but also prevent water from causing more damage to your property.

They are professional from the outset through phone communication or in person, as they are understanding and non-judgmental, respecting you for reaching out for their help. Licensed and Insured Make certain that any service provider you choose to use is a licensed and insured professional, as this is how you keep safe and protected according to the building regulations and certifications. It's not safe for yourself, other occupants, or any visitors to enter a liability situation. Communication You need to use a service provider who has superb and skilled communication with you and endorses it in a friendly and polite manner, as well as strong communication with trade staff or other associates, such as suppliers. Local Company Local companies have great experience in sourcing building materials and hardware, which takes the stress out of how you're going to get repairs going within a handful of days after the disaster. Being in the local area, we have a great relationship with stores to get your home looking and working like new again. But the most important part of using a local company is that we are part of the community, as well as operating in the local area, so not only will you trust and help small businesses, but you can be sure of the quality materials and workmanship that we can deliver.

What is considered an emergency roof repair?
In this article, I'm going to cover what we consider to be an emergency roof repair. When doing an initial assessment, we always look at our own rating that involves whether the repair can wait 12-24 hours, 36-72 hours, or whether the repair is actually excessively dangerous to leave in its current state. If we think it needs doing immediately or, at the very least, within 12-24 hours, we will always class this as an "emergency repair".
An extreme leak - This would involve water actually penetrating through your tiles or slates and dropping into the room below, causing what would essentially be considered a flood from your roof.
A structural issue - This could be such as the fire brigade has already contacted you and informed you that your chimney is about to fall down and is no longer safe.
Dangerous due to falling tiles or slates - Common in three-storey plus townhouses where something on the roof is putting the public in danger. From our experience, we can get 2-3 of these types of callouts each year in total; they are extremely rare. The most common is indeed an extreme leak.
All of these calls have to be assessed on our end before we would inform a client that it is indeed an emergency situation. Each of our clients thinks that their issue is an emergency as their roof is leaking, and admittedly, a leaking roof is never a good thing. But on occasion, we can receive a general maintenance call, and the same day we're called back and told, "Water is now coming through my ceiling and dripping onto my carpets," and we have to reassure our clients that they can wait 12-24 hours on occasions while we fully assess before diagnosing the situation. We always tell everyone, though, if you're worried past going through it on the phone, then "Phone Someone Else"!
